Rescue and Animal Welfare Links

Due to careful placement of wheaten puppies, breeders rarely need to rehome their dogs. Wheatens tend not to end up in pounds or shelters. Backyard breeders, puppyfarms and pet shops in contrast care about one thing: the profit they can make from their 'livestock'. Impulse buying and serial dumping ensures the statistics of dogs killed in pounds increases each year. WHA recommends that if people do not choose to buy a puppy via an ethical registered breeder then they should rescue from a pound or shelter or one of the ethical rescue groups listed below.

Note: Wheaten Health Australia supports animal welfare. This is different to animal rights. Animal rights groups do not want people to have dogs or other animals as pets. Look beyond the propaganda into what they really want for your dogs.
